3D Vision with window mode – Nvidia 266.58 – Thanks!

Goole Earth in 3D - with Nvidia 3D VisionOn the forth of January 2011 Nvidia revealed a new Beta driver, which was quite a surprise for me. I’ve been looking for this driver since it was first announced in November 2009. It should bring the capability to support 3D Vision in a windowed mode. So e.g. Google Earth and other windowed application could be used. Periodically I was seeking the web for new rumors or news, but gave up in some point in time last year. But now: Bam! Here it is. And it gets even better. The new driver comes with a new 3D Portal (3dvisionlive.com), which offers a 3D picture and Video gallery – all in a browser windows – just great. Continue reading

App Store vs. Android Market – Total Number of Apps on September 2010

I’ve been asking myself for quite a while if there is a nice chart, where I can see in one diagram the number of available applications in the Google Market and Apples App Store. Well – I just didn’t succeed, and that’s why I’ve fabricated one myself. It’s been done with Google’s Spreadsheet by the way.

My sources are Continue reading

Avatar 3D For Nvidia’s 3D Vision Glasses

Avatar for 3D Vision at TPBMonsters vs Aliens was the first movie I’ve seen at TPB, which was ready for Nvidia’s 3D Vision glasses. But hardly anybody took notice of it, because the first comment was quite devastating, but very precise though. The file description itself laconically states: “3D” – that’s all. The subs were hardcoded on the left eye, the video was out of sync and the language was Russian. Continue reading

Reanimating Elsa 3D Revelator Glasses

Actually it was a few months ago, when this used to happen, but until today I was simply too lazy to report on th following:

I’ve bought a bunch of Elsa 3D Revelator Shutter Glasses at eBay for a few bucks a few years ago, and was quite happy with them, because almost all of them were working flawlessly. Continue reading

VDR Installation Guide for Lucid (VDPAU,xineliboutput,vdr-sxfe)

This is an Installation HOWTO for VDR with HDTV support for Lucid Lynx (Ubuntu 10.04 LTS).

I’m starting VDR from inside MMS (My Media System, a lightweight media center for Linux [wiki][forum][bug]), so it’s actually a HOWTO about installing a whole Media Center PC (HTPC). Continue reading

Nvidia 3D Vision – Missing Application Support

[Update] Google Earth is now supported by Nvidia 3D Vision [/Update]
Nvidia’s 3D Vision shutter glasses are awesome, no doubt about it, BUT…

I’ve managed to control my negative emotions regarding the lack of driver support for my old Elsa 3D Revelator glasses. It’s also OK that the prize for the new 3D Vision glasses is pretty high. I think, as long as the support will last longer than it did for the 3D Revelator glasses, the prize will be fine for me, too. Continue reading
